Please note that during the COVID-19 pandemic we are operating a telephone triage system. The doctor will treat you by phone, by video link or if safe to do so may ask you to come to the surgery.
We offer eight pre-bookable GP appointments per clinic and the remainder are released on the day at 08:30. Pre-bookable GP appointments are available up to four weeks in advance.
The majority of our appointments are available between 08:00 and 18:00. On alternate Tuesdays and Wednesdays we offer appointments up to 20:00. Usually, we can give you an appointment the same day but if you insist on seeing a specific GP then you may have to wait longer.
If you are struggling to make a routine appointment, please let our receptionist know on 0191 519 0077. We may ask one of our clinicians to review your request and they can either arrange to speak to you on the telephone or find you a suitable appointment.
The more information that you provide as to the nature of your problem, the more rapidly we can help to find the quickest and best solution for you.
Urgent Same Day Appointments
When appointments are tight we allocate on the-day appointments based on clinical need. If you have symptoms that suggest your health may be at risk, we will see you the same day.
However, the number of appointments that we hold to provide this cover for emergency cases is limited, so we have to allocate on the-day appointments strictly on a needs basis.
Late Night Appointments
The practice’s extended hours appointments are aimed at accommodating our patients who are commuters and those who have difficulty attending the practice in the daytime. However, these appointments are not restricted and can be booked by anyone who needs them.

For patients who need routine advice on a medical problem but do not need to be seen for a face to face appointment, we offer flexible telephone consultations with specific clinicians. Please call the practice on 0191 519 0077 and speak to one of our receptionists.

SMS Texts and Emails
Colliery Court Medical Group asks patients to provide their mobile phone numbers and their email address should they wish. We will use your mobile number to:
- Contact you as an alternative to your landline
- Send you SMS text messages
The text messages we send will only relate to your medical care e.g. appointment reminders, invitation to a check up or immunisations or to inform you a test result is back. We do not use SMS for direct marketing.
If you would prefer us not to send you SMS text messages please let us know and we will mark your record as “no SMS text messages”.
Cancelling an Appointment
If you are unable to keep an appointment, please let us know as soon as possible, this may enable someone else to be seen.
