To be fully protected against measles, mumps and rubella, children need two doses of the MMR vaccine:
1st dose – given at 1 year old
2nd dose – currently given at 3 years and 4 months (pre-school booster)
Important change from 1 January 2026:
Children born on or after 1 July 2024 will have their 2nd MMR dose at 18 months old.
Children born before 1 July 2024 will continue to receive their 2nd dose at 3 years and 4 months.
