GP surgeries are now responsible for taking blood samples for adult patients.
Instead of being asked to call phlebotomy for an appointment, you will now be offered a blood test appointment with our nursing team. Our reception team can book and amend these appointments the same as other Nurse/Healthcare Assistant appointments.
When you attend for your appointment, please check in at the screen or the desk so the staff know you have arrived, and call you on the screen like our other appointments.
We hope this will give greater flexibility in appointment times and we may be able to perform any urgent blood samples while you are here at the surgery, rather than you having to return another day.
Children’s bloods will still be done at the hospital and details on how to book an appointment will be given to you by the GP/ANP.
