Atorvastatin is a type of statin which helps lower cholesterol in the blood. It is commonly prescribed to patients with high cholesterol to lower their risk of heart disease and stroke.
When Atorvastatin is prescribed by the surgery, your clinician looks at the other medication you are taking, checks for any contraindications, and counsels you on the risks and benefits of taking the medication. Each box of medication also comes with a Patient Information Leaflet for further information.
If you are concerned about any supplements or medication you are taking which your GP surgery may not know about, or if you feel you may be having a side effect, you can discuss this directly with the pharmacist at your local pharmacy.
